Rural farming communities bear the brunt of climate unpredictability and extreme weather shocks. YADI recently concluded a series of participatory workshops designed to bolster local adaptive capacity in vulnerable agricultural districts.
Building Sustainable Local Systems
Participants developed tailored Community Disaster Risk Action Plans (CDRAP), incorporating traditional early-warning signs alongside modern meteorological forecasts. Key priorities established during the sessions include:
- Strengthening grain storage and seed bank reserves against sudden downpours.
- Community-managed water retention ponds for dry spell mitigation.
- Establishment of a youth-led village volunteer brigade for fast mobilization.
YADI remains committed to scaling these resilience models across all 36 states, ensuring no community is left vulnerable to foreseeable hazards.
